#LoveRomance was born out of frustration towards literary festivals’ continued snobbery and tokenism regarding genre and popular fiction. It aims to demonstrate in the most visceral way that romance and romance authors are an integral part of literary culture. It hopes to challenge, inform and shift the negative attitudes directed towards the genre and its readers.
This was something I’d always wanted to tackle for Cover Remix. I completed five cover remixes in postcard form, three of which use visual archetypes for chicklit, romance and paranormal/fantasy on classic literature, while the other two are textually remixed using selected “literary” quotes from popular romance novels.
These postcards were distributed in random spots at the Sydney Writers Festival in 2014 to stimulate enquiry, and received some media interest.
